The chess tournament scheduled for December 9 has been canceled.
The WSCC will host the 6th Camel City Open tournament on Saturday, December 9th at the Greentree Community Center at 930 S. Broad St. in Winston-Salem. The event will be USCF Regular-rated for both adult/scholastic players and will consist of 3 rounds. The time control will be TC: G/75 w/d3. Sections will be determined by the number of players participating. Registration consists of an entry fee of $25/USCF player and anyone interested can ask the Tournament Director(s) about registering for membership with the USCF. Registration at Greentree will be from 9:00 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. with Round #1 set to begin at 10:00 a.m. sharp ! The event should be completed no later than 6:30 p.m. — spectators are welcome and ALL players are encouraged to bring boards/pieces/clocks/scoresheets/pens or pencils for purposes of recording move notation per USCF rules. Good luck to all players !

There will be no meeting of the Winston-Salem Chess Club on Thursday, November 24. The Miller Park Recreation Center will be closed that day for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Meetings will resume on Thursday, December 1 with our monthly USCF-rated Blitz tournament.
The Winston-Salem Chess Club currently holds 7-round blitz (G/5;d0) and 3-round quick (G/15;d3) on the first Thursday (blitz) and third Thursday of each month. Entry fee is $1 for WSCC members, $3 for non-members. Entrants must be current USCF members. All tournaments are USCF-rated. Players are asked bring a tournament-class set and clock if available.

Thursday, August 11 is casual chess night. We begin play around 6:00 p.m. at Miller Park Recreation Center.
